For the last 9 years I have been blessed to work at Morning Star in the Preschool classroom. Not only do I love watching the children learn and grow, but I appreciate the chance to nurture and develop the personal relationships I have with both the children and their parents. Growing up as the middle child in a family of 8 kids, I took the role of the caregiver early on which I believe is what led me to my passion to work with children. Once I completed High School, I was a Nanny for about a year until I began working at Morning Star. Willing to do whatever job would give me hours, I slowly became an assistant in the Preschool classroom which eventually led to co-teaching with the other teacher in that classroom. She created such a positive learning environment for me, that my job turned into less obligation and more anticipation. After many years in the classroom, I was presented with the opportunity to work as the Coordinator of our Early Childhood Program. As of now I have the best of both worlds as I am able to work part time in the classroom and part time in the office. I truly LOVE coming to work every day and interacting with such wonderful families, coworkers, and children.

I have worked at Morning Star for 5 ½ years. I am from Bay Area California and moved here in 2006. I have four children and two that attend Morning Star. In California I owned an in home daycare and volunteered in our church’s children’s program. When we made the move to Central Oregon I decided it was best for our family if I was a stay at home Mom. When we found Morning Star I fell in love with the school and the staff. It was then that I started work-ing in the Preschool 4’s class , 3’s class, aftercare and the summer program. I really enjoy seeing the children grow in the school.

When I graduated high school, my parents wanted me to get a degree. When I sought after what was in my heart, it was Early Childhood Development. I spent a lot of time interning at a few different preschools here in town. I ended up being a teacher to 3-4 year old’s for a year, before I got pregnant with my first son and then was a stay at home mom until my 3rd son came along. I have been married to my best friend for 15 years now. I have 3 boys, two of which go to Morning Star and my other son is at Bend High. My oldest son went to Morning Star for 6th grade and to my delight, I heard they were hiring at the school and started working that summer. I am now in my third year working at this amazing place. It is such an honor to be working with the age group that holds a special place in my heart. I love all my co-workers and feel like they are family, as well. It’s so won-derful to work with such a community minded group of people. My kids constantly comment that they feel like they are family with all of the kids here, no matter the age and I love hearing that! I am so thankful to be apart of such a beautiful group of people.

Beth Bava

My name is Bethany Bava and I’ve worked at Morning Star since spring of 2017. I have sever-al years of experience as a paraprofessional working with preschool kiddos and children with special needs. I also regularly volunteer in the nursery and Sunday school program at my church (Antioch). Classrooms are a place where friendships are made, milestones are achieved and dreams are conceived. That is why I work at Morning Star today –to walk along-side each student as they learn, grow and feel right at home in our classroom.
